project in current development
Mothering Practices (working title) is a dance piece, a somatic research of identities, a political statement. Practices as a noun, some things that are regularly done, how to intentionally approach (artistic) görande. Practices as a verb, what is mothering practicing? What experiences and skills and qualities make mothering? How would it be if caring was welcome and integrated, instead of devalued and marginalised? How would it be if the cultural sector saw the caregivers’ competences as valuable for artistic practices?
We start from mothers but move away then. We build mothering practices, dance practices that originate from mothering children but want to extract its essence and become more abstract physical practices, somatic practices.
